WHICH SQUARE DRIVER FOR UNDER £100? 2008-03-19

In recent years we’ve seen a number of manufacturers throwing the rule books away when it comes to driver head design, most notably Nike, Callaway and Cleveland. Two of the best budget drivers on the market and from Hippo and Powerbilt.

HIPPO HEX 2 - RRP£99.00 – 18th Golf Price - £64.99
We've had square, triangular and pear-shaped. Now for the next futuristic driver clubhead - hexagonal!

The California-based arm of Hippo Golf, which has its European headquarters in
Burton-on-Trent, launched the Hippo Hex 2 driver at the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, Florida, the showcase for the golf trade in 2007.

It's one of the few products to be revealed for the first time and is certain to have golfers gasping. It features a unique eight-sided shape that Hippo claims creates 'optimum weight distribution to reduce the effect of side spin for the straightest and longest drives.'

The 460cc clubhead is designed to 'reduce drag on the backswing and generate higher head speed at impact.' with its thin, but legal face and six grammes of additional weight at the 'aft corners' to help stability.

POWERBILT SLUGGER – RRP£˜ - 18TH Golf Price - £69.99
Voted Best Pound for Pound Driver by National Club Golfer Magazine 2007.

The Powerbilt Slugger driver features state of the art square head technology to deliver the highest MOI (Moment Of Inertia) of any driver available. This type of head design prevents the driver head twisting at impact, so you can be assured of unbeatable accuracy and much straighter drives.
