READY, AIM, FIRE 2008-06-01

I want to start the conclusion of my analysis of your response to my fitting survey by commenting that I can almost certainly improve the game of any golfer no matter what their handicap is or frankly how they swing the golf club.

If you watch the top Pros play you will notice that there is quite an interesting assortment of swing actions. But what they all get right is the equipment match to their dimensions and swing and the position at address or setup.

Think of that as the ‘Ready’ and ‘Aim’ in a ‘Ready, Aim, Fire’ sequence. I think everyone can identify with that.

Ready yourself with the right equipment for you. Take the time with me and get golf clubs that will work with your physical stance, your swing speed, your hand dimensions and your athletic ability.

I would also recommend that you spend time with a qualified professional to make sure that you have the correct setup at address. Even if you are not somebody that feels that lessons can help your game, invest in some coaching to ensure that your ‘aim’ is correct.

Golf is a great game when a shot leaps off the club face and you know it is all over the pin. I think that period between knowing it’s going to be good and the ball landing on the green is the most enjoyable part of golf.

The stats show that the vast majority of you know that you will have that feeling far more often if you take the time to get fitted. Can I add that you’ll increase your success further if you can add the ‘aim’ to being ‘ready’ with the right equipment.
